Realistic Drawing Class

5:30 – 7pm

In this ongoing class, artists will learn techniques to render realistically the three-dimensional forms and textures found in the world around us, including people and animals. Artists will explore shape, line, value and texture using charcoal and graphite. A supply list will be provided.

Clay Class

Tuesdays, August 25 – December 8, 2020
4 – 5:30pm

This class focuses on the fundamentals of sculpting with clay, such as hand-building techniques like coiling, slabbing and pinching and the beginning stages of wheel throwing. We will also focus on pre-fire surface methods, including the application of colored clay slips and post-fire glazes. All materials are provided within price.

Fantasy Character (online class)

Wednesdays, August 26 – December 9, 2020
4 – 6pm

Students will develop a fantasy character, from concept to completed figurine. Artists will sketch, research, draw, sculpt and develop stories and backgrounds for their character. Supply kit will be provided.

Fused Glass for Beginners

Session II: October 22 – November 19, 2020
5:30pm – 8pm
Create images and texture on glass, coasters, a votive, a dish or jewelry. There will be plenty of hands-on time, working with sheet, crushed and other variations of glass. Glass experience not needed. Tools and materials are included. Closed toe-shoes are required. You must be able to grip and work with glass tools like a small hammer and pliers.

Beginner/Advanced Watercolor Portraits

1pm – 3pm

The class teaches beginning and more advanced artists how to use the medium of watercolor. More skilled artists will work on projects that are self-driven with verbal critiques and tutoring. Beginning artists will have more supervision and instruction. A supply list will be on your registration receipt.

Acrylics Class

3pm – 5pm

Class will focus on drawing and painting in acrylics and getting familiar with supplies of the medium. The course is designed for beginners-advanced and will focus on new techniques and subjects monthly.

Beyond the Classroom Open Studio

Tuesdays 1–4pm

Saturdays 2–5pm

Open Studio welcomes those with previous ceramic experience to share our space, equipment and materials to create with clay and is recommended for artists familiar with the ceramic process, don’t need hands-on instruction and feel confident working independently. A monitor will assist with  studio orientation. Tools and kiln service are provided. Clay and glazes are not. 

Cost: $50 per month

Morning Ceramics

10am – 12pm

Students will learn to design and make hand-built pottery and ceramic sculpture using slab construction, coiling and pinching. We will also explore form, surface, different texture techniques and glazing techniques. A list of required tools will be posted on your receipt after registration.

Creative Constructs

Fridays, August 28 – December 11, 2020

Young artists will love creating multiple art projects through painting, drawing, mixed-media and clay. Students will learn about realistic and abstract art, color theory, proportion and perspective and discover famous artists like Henri Matisse, Andy Warhol and Georgia O’Keefe. All materials are provided.

Show Me the Pastels

An introduction to oil and soft pastels, which create bright, colorful drawings. The program will teach color mixing, creating different effects and how to store and clean pastels.

Tag Team Art Class

Saturdays, August 29 – October 24, 2020
10am – 12:30pm

Families that clay together stay together! In this tag-team class, children work with an adult (parent, grandparent, aunt/uncle, etc.) on hand-built clay projects. Students will learn a variety of techniques using tools, drawing, textures, stamps, molds and colored slips.
Ages: 6 12
Class Size: 10 Max.
