Realistic Drawing Class

Mondays
5:30 – 7pm

In this ongoing class, artists will learn techniques to render realistically the three-dimensional forms and textures found in the world around us, including people and animals. Artists will explore shape, line, value and texture using charcoal and graphite. A supply list will be provided.
Ages: 16+

Clay Class

Tuesdays, January 12 – April 27
4 – 5:30pm

This class focuses on the fundamentals of sculpting with clay, such as hand-building techniques like coiling, slabbing and pinching and the beginning stages of wheel throwing. We will also focus on pre-fire surface methods, including the application of colored clay slips and post-fire glazes. All materials are provided within price.
Ages: 8-12
Class Size: 10 Max.

Beginning Oil Painting

Wednesdays, January 13 – April 28
9 – 11:30am

In the first oil painting class at the Center for the Arts, students learn the basics of color, texture, value, composition and materials. There will be a materials list on registration receipt. If we do not reach our minimum number of artists, we will keep a waiting list of interested individuals and begin the class when the minimum number of students have registered.

Introduction to Digital Photography and Editing (On-Line Program)

Wednesdays, January 13 – April 28
5– 6pm

In this digital class, artists will learn how to use readily-available software to manipulate photos made with a camera or phone. Participants will learn a new technique per week.

Beginner/Advanced Watercolor Portraits

Saturdays
1pm – 3pm

The class teaches beginning and more advanced artists how to use the medium of watercolor. More skilled artists will work on projects that are self-driven with verbal critiques and tutoring. Beginning artists will have more supervision and instruction. A supply list will be on your registration receipt.
Ages: 18+

Acrylics Class

Thursdays
2pm – 4pm

Class will focus on drawing and painting in acrylics and getting familiar with supplies of the medium. The course is designed for beginners-advanced and will focus on new techniques and subjects monthly.
Ages: 18+

Beyond the Classroom Open Studio

Tuesdays 1–4pm 
Thursdays 1–4pm
Saturdays 2–5pm

 Open Studio allows those who are familiar with the ceramic process, don’t need hands-on instruction and feel confident working independently to share our space, equipment and materials to create with clay. A monitor will be present to assist with orientation. Tools and kiln service are provided, but clay and glazes are not.

Morning Ceramics

Fridays
10am – 12pm

Students learn to design and make pottery and ceramic sculpture using techniques like slab construction, coiling and pinching. We will also explore form and surface and different texture and glazing techniques. This class is a must for novices. A list of required tools will be printed on your registration receipt.
Ages: 18+

Teen Ceramics

Thursdays, January 14 – April 29
4 – 5:30pm

This class introduces the pottery wheel to young artists. Students will learn how to make basic forms on the wheel, some hand-building techniques and surface adornments. Students will make a small selection of work to be displayed during the semester.
Ages: 13-18

Creative Construct

Fridays, January 15 – April 30
4pm – 5:30pm

Students receive one-on-one instruction in painting, drawing, mixed-media, clay, realistic and abstract art while discovering the world of famous artists like Henri Matisse, Andy Warhol and Georgia O’Keefe. All materials are provided.
Ages: 7 12
Class Size: 15 Max.
